Danny Gwinn and Chris Darby take home the Bass Cat Caracal after sweating out a slower day two! These guys jumped out to a two pound lead the first day after bringing us over 13 pounds of Greer's Ferry Bass on Saturday. Their catch was anchored by a 5.11 Big Bass which ended up holding out to biggest Bass of the championship weekend! They reported catching most all the fish the weighed in on jigs and drop shots in 25-40 foot. Chris said the second day things got pretty dicey after both he and Danny had lost fish and also broke off a couple of good quality upgrades a piece. Chris commented that some of their fish were sitting down in some deep rocks and that they were hitting the the rocks with their line as they were trying to wrestle them out of the deep crevices in the rocks. At the end of the second day though they brought us nearly nine pounds and that secured the Championship win with 21.79 to win by a little less than a pound!! Danny said it best...when the good Lord says it's your time, it's your time!! They held off a solid and consistent second place team of Daniel Dunn and John Bradley who weighed in 20.89 for the two day total of Greer's Ferry Bass to the scales! A jig seemed to be the ticket for these guys to help bring in a little better than average fish to claim the second place prize of $10,000 dollars!! Smallmouth definitely played a role in the top five finishers bags as there were several 2 ½ to 3 pound smallmouth were weighed in over the course of the two days, and lots of stories of heartbreaking losses of acrobatic smallmouth were the norm! 3rd Place went to Arthur Fortin and Caleb Cline with 20.07. These guys are from Bull Shoals and used their knowledge of that lake to duplicate a workable pattern to Greer's! Fourth place went to Timmy Poe and Jeremiah Kindy with a total of 19.80. Rounding out the top five was the team of Cameron and Brad Southard they weighed in 17.13 for the two days!
We always have lots of people to thank after a big event and this is no different. Thanks to the City of Greer's Ferry for the help of putting on a great championship supper for our meeting, and special thanks to the Slab Tech guys who did the cooking, if you need something catered look these guys up they have won several BBQ cook-off awards! Also Pastor Doug for opening up the church's Gym for us to have our meeting! Also a big thanks to our staff, Rusty, Shea, Rhett, Erica, Tami, Madi, and McKinley. And for sure Mrs Mary and the Cabot fishing team! It takes a lot of people to make everything run smoothly and all these people make that happen! And without the support of our sponsors a lot of this would not be possible. So thank you to Bass Cat, Costa, Crain Automotive, Geared Outdoors, Pro Guide Batteries, Farmer's Insurance, Mercury Marine, and Bob's Machine Shop!
We all know as fisherman that the fall is always a tough time to catch quality fish anywhere. But I can say that Greer's made for an interesting championship location, because one solid fish can swing the pendulum in your direction! Congratulations to all of you guys for another great year! We have changes coming for the next year so stay tuned in to our website and Facebook throughout the fall as we will be announcing some changes that are coming for 2019!
This was the final regular season event and what a way to end the season.
It's rained, the water is over 3' high, and the wind has blown for days. It’s now tournament day with high bright skies with little to no wind equals tough fishing but someone always figures the fish out.
Paul & Joseph Browning top 154 teams by catching 16.89. Their fish were caught flipping jigs & dragging big football jigs.
Wayne Dixon & Jared Allen slide into 2nd place with a total of 16.73 catching their fish flipping soft plastics in the mud.
Rounding out 3rd was Fred Martin & Tyrone Philips. They caught their 16.37 on "ugly" swim baits according to Fred.
Brian & Dennis Bean win the AOY Title. These guys catch fish everywhere every day. You can never count them out.
We have 6 teams that have qualified to participate in the Bassmaster Team Championship. The date & location has not been announced as of yet but we will make an announcement as soon as we get the word.
Here are the 6 qualifiers,
1 Brian & Dennis Bean
2 Fred Martin & Tyrone Phillips
3 Mark McDonnel & Quincy Houchin
4 Billy Holt & Billy Holt jr

Remember guys, if any of the Top 6 choose not to go we will move on to the next team in line. So be prepared!
