RUMBLE

Camden Arkansas

2020 ABTT: “Rumble on the River”

WOW!! What a turnout we had in Camden this last weekend for the 3rd Annual “Rumble on the River”. We actually had 75 boats which ended up making the trek to Camden for what turned out to be a pretty good day of fishing on the Ouachita River! This year, just like the years before, the City of Camden made this event possible. They have such pride in their city, and it shows every year. The river was at a pretty normal level and therefore led to some good catches! We paid out a total of over $12,000 dollars in cash and prizes!

Last year’s winning weight of 12 pounds was toppled this year when Bonner Brown and Dax Henderson of Hot Springs dropped 13.60 pounds on the scales to take home the BIG CHECK worth $5,000 dollars!! They outpaced the field by a little over 3 pounds and reported catching their fish on plastics throughout the day. Their catch was anchored by a couple of fish in the 4 pound range! Following them in second place with 10.51 pounds worth $1,500, was the local team of Stephen Tyson Jr. and Josh Hogue. They reported catching their better quality of fish flipping the main river. Stephen said he just put his head down and fished with the confidence that they would upgrade throughout the day, and that they did! Right behind them was the third place team of Austin Beaver and Greg Beaver with 10.46 pounds, which netted them a check for $1,000!

The biggest fish of the day was caught by Hunter Steele and Joe Faulkner on a plastic worm, which weighed in at 5.29 pounds. The Big Bass prize was two pair of Costa Sunglasses. Rounding out the top spots in fourth place was Mark King and Justin Swayze who weighed in a solid 10.39 pounds. They reported catching fish on spinnerbaits, jigs and topwaters. Fifth place was Rusty Manning and Jason Nichols with 10.27 pounds. They also caught a lot of fish on multiple baits. Finishing up the top 10 places were: 6th place: James McVay and Scott Phillips (9.47), 7th place: Nicholas Passafiume and Houston Dixon (9.46), 8th place: Hunter Steele and Joe Faulkner (9.23), 9th place: Darren Adams and Jennifer Adams (9.14), and 10th place: Clint Neely and Richard Neely (9.12). Great job guys!

Can’t say it enough, but definitely want to shout out a big thanks to the City of Camden. A huge weekend proved successful for them as many events were planned for tourists and locals alike. They had a disc golf tournament going on, a horse show, and a 10K bike race to go along with our Rumble on the River! Thanks to all the anglers who participated this year. We are already working on next year’s event; hopefully going to add a little surprise, something different, to this fun weekend next year!
